Accessories Council Excellence Awards

The Accessories Council Excellence Awards were established 1996; celebrating and awarding designers, brands, and retailers on their achievements within the accessories fashion industry. Hosted annually at the Cipriani 42nd Street, New York.

We were commissioned to create the intro video and all the recipient ‘walk up’ videos—usually about a dozen in total. Having worked on three events to date; we're highlighting the 2018 event here—due to its playful image usage, strong branding, and the typographical motion.

The light refraction and kaleidoscope effect was inspired by a visit to the opticians; where looking through the ‘Phoroptor’, the refracting lens created a jewel like virtual world.

This gave us the inspiration to create a whirling, layered, refracted world—like falling through a jewel.

Working closely with our motion graphics freelance designer, Tyler Bertam, we were able to recreate that experience which helped to hold together the numerous and diverse content we were supplied with from each of the category winners.

Typography | We scaled the type weight and tracking to give the wording elasticity and a dynamic playful appeal. Then introduced a diagonal element to help transition between content and sections.  Before finally adding dots to act as a grid, increase layering, and to create depth with a Y-axis.

Social Media | One element we want to introduce was a social media aspect to encourage posting and interaction on the night and post event. We showcased this within the intro video, including the event location and event hashtag.
